DuPont Performance Elastomers’ new Shanghai technical centre to serve growing regional needs
DuPont Performance Elastomers new state-of-the-art Technical Center in Zhangjiang High-tech Park , Pudong, Shanghai , located at the DuPont China Research and Development Center . Wilmington, Delaware, USA/Geneva, Switzerland – (14 December 2005) – DuPont Performance Elastomers has opened a new state-of-the-art Technical Center in Zhangjiang High-tech Park, Pudong, Shanghai, to support its customers in the fastest growing elastomers market in the world. Located at the new DuPont China Research and Development Center , the Company’s latest full service laboratory is a strategic addition to its established Technical Centers in Akron , USA ; Yokohama and Utsunomiya in Japan , and Meyrin , Switzerland . DuPont Performance Elastomers now has leading-edge research and development capability in the key US, European and Asia-Pacific industry centers, to serve customers globally. This facility will play an integral role in the global DuPont Performance Elastomers initiative directed toward the use of sophisticated laboratory information management systems coupled with electronic collaborative tools to enhance customer technical support. “The Asia-Pacific region, and especially China , is already providing strong growth opportunities for the company’s specialized high performance elastomers and sealing solutions . With the new Shanghai Technical Center , we are now even better placed to offer local expertise and resources to our growing customer base in the region. The laboratory also strengthens our ability to deliver breakthrough technology and invest in new performance-enhancing developments that meet emerging customer needs ,” said Torkel Rhenman, global technology director, DuPont Performance Elastomers. The Shanghai Technical Center is designed to handle research and development, new product applications for the Chinese and global markets, and to provide strong and tailored technical service to meet customers’ specific needs — including training and after-sales technical support. It offers compounding, processing and property testing capabilities. The new facility forms part of DuPont Performance Elastomers’ lead center network of laboratories, enabling customers to benefit from many technical and pilot process capabilities including thermoset extrusion and calendering, injection molding, process aid technology, adhesives and coatings, robotic application equipment, computer aided design and engineering.
